COSTA LINKED TO CHELSEA
Diego Costa has been one of the breakout stars this season having already scored 19 goals, its no wonder why he is one of the most sought out players in Europe.
Chelsea and Arsenal were linked with the Brazilian forward but the director of football of Atletico Madrid Jose Luis Caminero is confident that Costa is not interested in making a move to any other club.
He said in an interview with Marca: “Right now Costa does not think of leaving, he is contracted to Atletico. He has renewed with us which is important. He has shown that he wants to continue at this club.”
This leaves Jose Mourinho and his team having to look for another striker which is the most noticeable problem that Chelsea has been showing weaknesses in during this season. Gonzalo Higuain is another target for the Portuguese coach.
Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Mourinho worked together in Real Madrid both 3 years until they both set their goodbyes to the Spanish club. Chelsea is preparing an offer around the region of £48 million in order to sign the Argentine striker from Napoli.
Rafael Benitez could use the funding of Higuain in strengthening other areas that Napoli has been suffering from but at the same time it would cost him to lose one his major goal scoring sources of this season.
Radamel Falcao was a player that received the media spotlight and was targeted not only by Chelsea but also clubs from Serie A, however his move away from As.Monaco seems highly unlikely as the Colombian forward said that he is happy playing in France and has no intentions in making a move anytime soon.
Everything will ultimately be decided when the transfer window re-opens in January and Jose Mourinho is going to have the final say as he is known to get the player he wants at any cost and with Abramovich backing him up, there is almost no limit to what he can do in the transfer market.
