MONACO CHASE BOSINGWA

The French club AS Monaco are not looking to sign the former Chelsea defender José Bosingwa, who is now available on a free transfer after having released by his former club following the end of last season.

José Bosingwa was part of the Chelsea team that managed to lift the FA Cup and the Champions League title last season. However, the contract of the 29-year-old was not renewed by the club. They also did not take up the option of extending by another season because the club was looking to bring down the age of the squad.

José Bosingwa was one of the few established players released by the club. Salomon Kalou and Didier Drogba were the other players who left the club after the end of last season. Both these players have already found a new club in the form of Lille and Shanghai Shenhua. However, José Bosingwa is yet to reveal his future destination. Now, it seems that he is moving closer towards the next step in his career after it has been revealed that French club Monaco are looking to seal his signing in the next few days. Monaco are currently managed by the former Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri, who has dismissed the suggestions that he is about to sign the former Chelsea defender.

“Bosingwa? The rumour is unfounded,” said the former Roma and Inter Milan manager. Monaco are looking to spend a lot of money in the hope of winning the league title and also doing well in the Champions League. The club reached the final stage of the competition back in 2004 but they lost to eventual winners FC Porto. They are currently in the second division of the football after having been relegated last season. They are hoping to return to the first division with signings like José Bosingwa.
